Pertaining to her educational background, Dr. Axelrod completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan, where she also earned her Master of Public Health degree with a focus on Genetic Epidemiology. She then received her medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Science, served her clinical residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and completed her fellowship training in allergy and clinical immunology at Winthrop University Hospital.

Demonstrating expertise in all areas of her speciality, the doctor is board-certified in allergy and immunology by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology (ABAI). The mission of the ABAI is to improve the quality of medical care by the development and utilization of professional and educational standards for the initial certification and maintenance of certification of physician specialists in allergy and immunology.

Furthermore, she is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
