Currently, he serves as Professor of Medicine in the Section of Endocrinology and Diabetes at Truman Medical Center – Hospital Hill. Truman Medical Center – Hospital Hill is an acute care and outpatient hospital located in Kansas City, Missouri. 

In his professional experience, Dr. Weide also serves as a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine / Section of Endocrinology at the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Medicine.

He earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (‘85), after first receiving his Doctorate (PhD) degree in Cellular Biology from the University of Texas at Dallas (‘81). He then went on to complete his residency in internal medicine at the Indiana University Medical Center, followed by his fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at the Washington University Medical Center in St. Louis with a research focus in Diabetes & Islet cell transplantation. 

Before long, he became board-certified in endocrinology, diabetes & metabolism by the American Board of Internal Medicine – a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

In addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology (FACE), he served as President of the Heartland Chapter of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. 

Endocrinology is a branch of biology and medicine dealing with the endocrine system, its diseases, and its specific secretions known as hormones. Endocrinologists have the training to diagnose and treat hormone imbalances and problems by helping to restore the normal balance of hormones in the body. The common diseases and disorders of the endocrine system that endocrinologists deal with include diabetes mellitus, as well as adrenal, pituitary, and thyroid disorders – among others.
