  • Is there a gel for sore gums?

You can use a topical ointment for temporary relief but you should visit your doctor to find the real cause so you can address it. The ointments are typically found in any pharmacy. READ MORE

  • Can you live with wisdom teeth?

Yes! Wisdom teeth are mainly recommended for extraction when you have inadequate space, ill-positioned eruption, extensive decay, or the person is a high risk for carries (cavities). Note, just because they have not hurt you does not indicate that you do not fall into any of those major categories. To be sure, you should check with your dental provider. READ MORE

  • Is Invisalign as good as braces?

Invisalign and clear aligners are comparable to traditional wire braces. These newer alternatives are great for the cosmetically conscious patients. Where they make up in cosmetics, they lack in force. They do not have the same tensions and “grip” to correct the more sever cases. The good news is that most cases are minor to moderate in which they can handle well and around the same treatment time. READ MORE

  • How often do I need a dental cleaning?

Congrats on taking the bull by the horns at this age. So many of your cohorts do not attend the dentist regularly in any capacity. To answer your question, yes, you should go twice a year. Go before you feel problems arise and definitely go if you feel something is “off.” Cheers. READ MORE

  • Should my son have a caries risk assessment?

He shouldn’t need an assessment per say but he should have his first appt for his cleaning and exam as soon as you see he has any teeth. READ MORE

  • Is a dry socket an infection?

It’s not an infection but it is irritation of the bone and extremely painful! I would suggest going in to get out of that pain ASAP. Cheers. READ MORE

  • Can I drink alcohol after wisdom tooth removal?

The short answer is no. You should be on antibiotics after the removal. If so, you should follow the instructions on the label which usually states not to drink while on them. Cheers. Happy birthday! READ MORE

  • Can a toothache make my jaw hurt?

The nerve line running to your lower teeth follows the from around your ear running down the underside of the lower teeth to the front of your mouth. If you have any infections or pain from a tooth it can feel like it’s all of them on the side because it’s all on the same nerve. I would suggest going in to get that offending tooth checked out ASAP. An infection can spread to other teeth as the abscess gets larger. Worst case scenario, it can spread to your brain. Please handle it sooner than later. Cheers. READ MORE

  • How often should dentures be replaced?

If they are fitting correctly and are in good shape, he is good. I typically tell my patients with complete dentures to still come in anually for checkups and to check on the dentures. It would be a good rule of thumb for him. READ MORE

  • Why are my teeth yellow?

Everyone has a natural shade of yellow to their teeth. If they have always been this way it’s your natural shade. There is nothing wrong with that. If you feel there are yellow spots building on your teeth, that’s a different story. If that is your case you should go get it checked out. If you have not been in the dental office in the past 6 months then, guess what, it’s time. When you go, inquire about thier whitening procedures. Cheers! READ MORE
