Academically, Dr. Paone graduated with his medical degree from the University of Missouri School of Medicine in 1977. Upon graduation, he went on to perform his residency in internal medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Prior to practicing in Florida, Dr. Paone worked at Kansas City Internal Medicine, PC, and in local hospitals in Kansas. In general, he was the first doctor that patients saw. He provided continuing care for patients moving through various hospital departments or other facilities. He also made referrals when necessary to specialists, or to tertiary care (from the hospital-only medical staff). In addition, he served on the faculty of the University of Missouri School of Medicine where he taught as an Associate Clinical Professor.
