Get to know Psychiatrist Dr. Pamelynn Esperanza, who serves patients in New York, New York.

A devoted psychiatrist, Dr. Esperanza sees patients at the Weill Cornell Psychiatry Specialty Center. Her clinical interests are focused on pediatric and adult ADHD, depression, anxiety, and psychopharmacology. She maintains a faculty practice where she treats children, teens and adults for psychotherapy as well as medication evaluation and management.

Bringing the unique perspective of a pediatrician with advanced training in psychiatry, she blends her knowledge of child development, pediatric illness and mental health to provide a comprehensive treatment plan for her patients. Her goal is to create a warm, safe and secure environment for her patients. She believes in developing a partnership with her patients and families where treatment is individually tailored.

The Weill Cornell Psychiatry Specialty Center offers expert assessment and treatment of psychiatric disorders by a multi-disciplinary team of academically-oriented clinicians in a discreet, comfortable outpatient setting. They offer expertise in disorders across the lifespan and an approach that is sensitive to each individual's life context. Their services include assessment, medication management, psychotherapy, couples' counseling, family therapy, group therapy, and neuropsychological and educational testing.

Graduating with her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1993, Dr. Esperanza earned her medical degree from the Rush Medical College in 2004. She completed her residency in pediatrics and has practiced pediatrics and pediatric emergency medicine. She advanced her training by completing a fellowship in general psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry.

As a testament of her continued education, the doctor is board-certified in psychiatry and child & adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

Among her other roles, Dr. Esperanza is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medicine, and an Assistant Attending Psychiatrist at NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester Behavioral Health Center.

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders.
