In addition, he has a special interest in and frequently cares for complications in hip and knee replacement surgery, including the surgical treatment of component loosening, material failure, infection, joint instability, metal hypersensitivity/allergy, and fractures around a hip or knee prosthesis. He teaches other orthopedic surgeons at the state and national level, lecturing frequently across the country on different aspects of hip and knee replacement surgery. 

Michigan Orthopedic Center is a multi-physician surgical practice serving mid-Michigan since 1990. The subspecialty fellowship trained surgeons are committed to providing state-of-the art, high quality orthopedic care and a professional, compassionate patient experience. They treat complex orthopedic surgical issues including joint replacement of the hip, knee and shoulder, foot and ankle surgery, fracture surgery, spinal surgery, and sports medicine.

Holding a position as an Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery, Dr. Taunt is actively teaching in the Michigan State University / McLaren Greater Lansing orthopedic surgery residency program. He instructs young surgeons in training and enjoys working daily with orthopedic residents, interns, and medical students.

In Michigan, he is affiliated with Red Cedar Surgery Center, McLaren Orthopedic Hospital, and Sparrow Hospital.

Academically, Dr. Taunt holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics & Pre-Professional Studies from the University of Notre Dame. He started his career in medicine by earning his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then went on to complete his rotating internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at St. John Oakland Hospital, and an adult reconstruction fellowship at The University of Chicago.

Certified in Advanced Trauma Life Support, the doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery (AOBOS). The AOBOS is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of disorders of the musculoskeletal system.
