Since the hospital was founded in 1875, Metropolitan has been affiliated with New York Medical College, representing the oldest partnership between a hospital and a private medical school in the United States. 

Educated in France, Dr. Habal graduated with her Medical Degree from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Lille in 1988. She then relocated to New York, performing her internship and residency in emergency medicine at Metropolitan Hospital Center in 1990 and 1992, respectively. 

Subsequent to her training, the doctor attained board certification in emergency medicine through the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM). The ABEM certifies emergency physicians who meet its educational, professional, and examination standards.

Distinguished with fellowship status, Dr. Habal is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (FACEP).
