Get to know Internist Dr. Guillermo I. Rocha, who serves patients in San Antonio, Texas.

For nearly four decades, Dr. Rocha has been a cornerstone of healthcare excellence in San Antonio, tirelessly serving the local community since 1984. As a dedicated practitioner of internal medicine, he has made a profound impact on the lives of countless individuals, emphasizing comprehensive care and a strong commitment to improving patients’ overall well-being. His areas of emphasis include diabetic care, hypertensive care, and heart disease prevention and treatment. This specialized knowledge has allowed him to provide patients with tailored and effective medical care, addressing some of the most prevalent and challenging health issues faced by the community.

Academically, he earned his undergraduate degree from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, laying the foundation for his medical career. Subsequently, he attended medical school at CEUX in Cuernavaca, Mexico, and completed his clinical training in hospitals located in Philadelphia, Trenton, New Jersey, Waco, and Corpus Christi. His commitment to continuous learning led him to Rush Medical School in Chicago, where he completed a fifth pathway program. 

Thereafter, Dr. Rocha’s formal residency training took place at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, where he successfully completed a categorical Internal Medicine residency. Upon completing his residency, he and his wife made the pivotal decision to settle in San Antonio. It was here that he embarked on his journey of private practice in Internal Medicine, dedicating himself to serving the healthcare needs of the local community.

In his professional experience, he has taken on various roles in local hospitals, demonstrating his leadership and commitment to quality healthcare. He has served as Chairman of Medicine, Chief of Quality Assurance, and has actively participated in the Quality Assurance regional committee with Champus. His extensive involvement in hospital administration reflects his deep-rooted commitment to ensuring that patients receive the highest quality of care.

As a testament to his leadership qualities, Dr. Rocha has also held the position of president within a primary care group of physicians. In this capacity, he has played a vital role in fostering collaboration among healthcare professionals, working together to enhance the healthcare landscape in the San Antonio area.
