Get to know Endocrinologist Dr. Shwetha M. Anand, who serves patients in San Leandro, California.

Dr. Anand is a highly-trained endocrinologist at Epic Care, operating out of the office in San Leandro, California. She specializes in diabetes management, thyroid disorders, and other glandular conditions such as menopause, adrenal problems, and osteoporosis.

Her facility privileges include Eden Medical Center, Castro Valley Campus, Kindred Hospital, and San Leandro Hospital.

Educated in India, Dr. Anand graduated with her medical degree from Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences. After relocating to the United States, she pursued her residency in internal medicine at Providence Hospital-Medical Center in Southfield, Michigan. She then went on to complete her fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism at Southern Illinois University in Springfield, Illinois.

As a testament to her success, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine & endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

In order to stay up to date in her field, Dr. Anand remains an active member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and the Endocrine Society.

Endocrinology is a branch of biology and medicine dealing with the endocrine system, its diseases, and its specific secretions known as hormones. Endocrinologists have the training to diagnose and treat hormone imbalances and problems by helping to restore the normal balance of hormones in the body. The common diseases and disorders of the endocrine system that endocrinologists deal with include diabetes mellitus, as well as adrenal, pituitary, and thyroid disorders, among others. 

Outside of practicing medicine, Dr. Anand enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and visiting new places.
