Get to know Psychiatrist Dr. Jamuna D. Raju, who serves patients in Vienna, Virginia.

Recognized as a trusted psychiatrist, Dr. Raju serves as the Medical Director of New Paradigm Recovery in Vienna Virginia. She and her team of professionals utilize a recovery-informed restorative clinical approach to the treatment of alcohol and drug dependency.

“When it comes to treating drug and alcohol dependency, many drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs center their focus solely on the effects of the addiction. A 1988 graduate of Siddhartha Medical College in India, Dr. Raju relocated to the United States to further her training. Once there, she performed her residency in psychiatry at the University of Maryland Medical Center.

With over three decades of experience in her field, she is licensed to practice medicine in Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New York. Specializing in addiction medicine, neurology, and psychiatry, she remains affiliated with Virginia Hospital Center and Dominion Hospital.

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. They conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication, and evaluate treatment results.

In light of her accomplishments, Dr. Raju has been the recipient of Patients’ Choice Award (2011, 2020).
