Does seeing a chiropractor help TMJ?
Seeing the RIGHT Chiropractor can be a game changer for TMJ issues! Look for a NUCCA Chiropractor - www.nucca.org - or other Upper Cervical Chiropractor who specializes in TMJ... gentle upper cervical (top of the neck) adjustments can restore the nerve communication and allow the muscles to let go and free up the jaw. There are also adjustments that can be done to the jaw itself, if all the symptoms do not clear up with the spinal care! READ MORE
At what age is an adjustment safe for children?
Chiropractic care is safe for all ages. I have adjusted babies right after birth to help mitigate the effects of a traumatic or stressful birthing process. Find a chiropractor who works with kids regularly (not all of them do), or one who specializes in pediatrics, and she will receive great care! READ MORE
I am having a lot of foot pain because of my weight. What should I do?
Many different things can play a role in this type of pain. Typically, this type of pain is not only due to weight. It is often associated with previous injury, overuse of the spine and joints in the legs and feet, nutrition causing inflammation in your body, and more. I would highly recommend you find a chiropractor in your area who will adjust both your spine and your feet, where needed, to help your body handle the stress in a more effective way. This will also improve your nerve function as the nerves come out of the spine and help your brain and nervous system function at its best so you can be as healthy as possible! READ MORE
I am suffering from spondalytis. Is there a treatment for this condition?
There are so many things you can do to reduce the symptoms of Spondylitis. The most important is to keep the communication between the joints and the brain going by making sure the joints in your spine continue moving as much as possible to slow down the progression. Gentle NUCCA Chiropractic adjustments will reduce pain and symptoms significantly, while switching to an anti-inflammatory diet and increasing Omega-3 intake will help reduce inflammation in your joints to continue to improve movement. I highly recommend you find a NUCCA chiropractor near you who will do gentle adjustments that are completely safe for your condition. READ MORE
Can a chiropractor help me with my SI joint pain?
Absolutely! Chiropractors adjust the bones/joints in the spine and body to improve nerve function. If your SI joint is stuck and not moving properly, the nerves will tell you all about it (which is where the pain comes in). By getting adjusted, the joint will move more freely, relieving pain, and allow the nerves to communicate properly between the brain and body so your body can heal the underlying cause. READ MORE
What home treatments can I try for lower back pain?
The biggest thing you can do at home to keep your body feeling its best is to move and eat an anti-inflammatory diet. Movement varies for different people. Those with sedentary lifestyles benefit from just committing to walking for 30 minutes/day - uninterrupted, with no electronic devices. The top 5 foods that create inflammation in our bodies are: processed sugars (anything with sugar or alternative sweeteners added), processed grains, caffeine, alcohol and reduced-fat dairy. If you can, cut these 5 things out and add in a high-quality Omega-3 supplement with both EPA and DHA in it (my favorites are Metagenics and Standard Process). All that being said, if the bones in your spine are not moving properly, you need to see a qualified chiropractor to get the joints moving again. The above recommendations will be less effective, or not effective at all, if the joints in your spine are stuck and the nerves are not communicating properly! READ MORE

Get to know Chiropractor Dr. Lila Baker, who serves patients in San Francisco, California.
Dr. Baker is a top chiropractor serving as the owner & operator of Connection Chiropractic in San Francisco, California. Having been helping patients through the National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association (NUCCA) care since 2012, her passion for chiropractic grows with every patient she cares for.
Likewise, her dedication and commitment to the chiropractic principle and the functioning of one’s innate intelligence will assure fast results for patients and entire families. She enjoys giving, loving, and serving out of her own abundance with no expectation of return.
Back in the day, Dr. Baker’s childhood consisted of everything active one could possibly imagine. She started skiing at 2 years old, dancing at 3, gymnastics at 5, and continued on to enjoy mountain biking, backpacking, whitewater rafting, skydiving, flying trapeze, and more. Her passion for sports and an active lifestyle carries into her passion for helping athletes get their edge back – or just keep it in the first place!
After a horrible car accident at 17 years old, she thought she had lost any opportunity to be active. Through chiropractic care, she found her body healing better than any medical doctor could have predicted. At that time, she discovered a profound appreciation for the power of chiropractic and would go on to refer hundreds of patients to local chiropractors. Later in life, she realized her calling and headed off to chiropractic school, graduating with her Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) degree from Life Chiropractic College West.
Passionate about learning so that she can continue to provide her patients with the highest quality care, Dr. Baker continues to attend NUCCA conferences twice a year to ensure she is educated in the most recent research in her profession.
Among her professional affiliations, she is a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, the California Chiropractic Association, and the International Chiropractors Association.
Chiropractic is a form of alternative medicine that mainly deals with the diagnosis and treatment of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, especially the spine. A chiropractor uses spinal adjustments, manipulation, and other techniques to manage patients’ health concerns, including neck pain and back pain. They aim to improve patients’ functionality and quality of life by properly aligning the body’s musculoskeletal structure and enabling the body to heal itself without the use of medication or surgery.
