Get to know Gastroenterologist Dr. Amilcar Morales, who serves patients in Fort Worth, Texas.
Dr. Morales is a board-certified gastroenterologist with Texas Digestive Disease Consultants - Fort Worth Southwest.
As such, he performs routine GI procedures such as upper endoscopy and colonoscopy in the diagnosis, screening, and surveillance of gastrointestinal diseases and cancers. In addition, he specializes in the management of liver disorders such as autoimmune hepatitis, PBC/PSC, NAFLD, and cirrhosis.
A 2010 graduate of the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, Dr. Morales went on to perform his residency in internal medicine at Brooke Army Medical Center in 2013. He then went on to perform a fellowship in gastroenterology at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, and a fellowship in transplant hepatology at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.
Subsequent to his education, he attained board certification in gastroenterology, internal medicine, and transplant hepatology through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
“I have always been amazed by the human body and its complexity, especially the gastrointestinal system. During my medical training, I was exposed early to the specialty and was always impressed by the ability of gastroenterologists to not only medically treat disorders but also perform life saving procedures. The opportunity to develop a connection with a patient and to have different tools to treat them is the reason why I choose this specialty” expressed Dr. Morales.
Advancing his efforts, he is an active member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, and the Texas Society for Gastroenterology and Endoscopy.
In Texas, Dr. Morales is affiliated with Texas Health Fort Worth and Texas Health Southwest Fort Worth.
