He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.
Subsequently, he completed his residency in psychiatry at multiple hospitals in Miami, Florida, including the University of Miami / Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami VA Medical Center, Highland Park Hospital, and Mount Sinai Medical Center. Later, he completed a fellowship within the ECT Service at the Medical University of South Carolina.
