Providing Accessible and Personalized Psychiatric Treatment to Individuals in Need
Dr. George R. Elias, MD, provides outpatient psychiatric treatment to adults and adolescents at Elias Diagnostix, of which he is the Founder. He offers treatment at his office located in the South Bay (Hermosa Beach) and through telemedicine.
Providing personalized care to his patients, Dr. Elias’s areas of expertise include bipolar spectrum disorders, treatment resistant depression, depressive disorders, psychotic disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, brain injuries, substance use disorders, personality, psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, mental health law, competence, disability, and risk assessments.
After graduating top of his class from the Balamand University School of Medicine in 2011, Dr. Elias left his home country of Lebanon to move to St. Louis, Missouri to pursue residency training. There, he trained in adult psychiatry at the Barnes Jewish Hospital/Washington University School of Medicine program.
Following his residency, Dr. Elias pursued fellowship training in forensic psychiatry at the USC Institute of Psychiatry, Law, and Behavioral Science in Los Angeles. He then served as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, where he was involved in various clinical roles.
Namely, Dr. Eliase covered the inpatient psychiatric consultation and liaison (C&L) service. There, he consulted on the psychiatric treatment of medically complex patients admitted to Keck Hospital while also supervising medical students, psychiatry residents, and C&L fellows. Moreover, he evaluated and treated individuals in psychiatric crises at the LAC+USC hospital psychiatry emergency department. However, his main clinical role was launching and then running the psychiatric outpatient service at the Keck Downtown Los Angeles location.
Starting the psychiatry outpatient service at Keck DTLA in April of 2017, Dr. Elias evaluated and treated hundreds of patients while collaborating with top notch physicians from other specialties including internists, neurologists, and surgeons. He also collaborated with occupational therapists, psychotherapists, and dietitians to help patients improve from a 360 degrees approach to care. He continued to do this until he resigned from his position in July of 2020 in order to start his own private practice, Elias Diagnostix.
With dual certification in adult and forensic psychiatry, Dr. Elias boasts recognition as a Diplomate of the prestigious American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. His expertise extends beyond clinical practice to providing expert opinions on complex criminal and civil matters through written reports, compelling testimony, and insightful depositions. He holds the esteemed position of a Los Angeles Superior Court approved panel expert witness in forensic psychiatry.
Across borders, Dr. Elias’s expertise is not confined by state lines. He is licensed to practice medicine in both California and Missouri, and his reach extends even further as an authorized Out-of-State Telehealth Provider in Florida.
