Get to know Pediatric Cardiologist Dr. James S. Krulisky, who serves patients in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Being a renowned pediatric cardiologist with a focus on ambulatory cardiology, Dr. Krulisky chose to practice within this particular field because of the unique opportunity to see and follow patients from birth until adulthood and to help treat and guide patients and families through the complex diagnosis and treatment of both congenital and acquired heart disease. His clinical interests include cyanotic and acyanotic congenital heart disease, any and all acquired heart disease, and exercise physiology.

At present, he can be found on staff at Children’s Hospital New Orleans, which is a 247-bed, not-for-profit pediatric medical center offering a complete range of healthcare services for children from birth to 21 years in New Orleans, Louisiana. The mission of  Children’s Hospital New Orlean is “to provide comprehensive pediatric healthcare which recognizes the special needs of children through excellence and continuous improvement of patient care, education, research, child advocacy, and management.” Dr. Krulisky sees patients at the Children’s Hospital Main Campus, LCMC Health Ridgelake Health Center, and Children’s Hospital Covington Health Center. 

Alongside his clinical role, he serves as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics in the Department of Pediatric Cardiology at Louisiana State University Health New Orleans.

A native of Los Angeles, California, Dr. Krulisky received his undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University in Columbus. He then went on to receive his medical degree from Albany Medical College in New York.

Wanting to further his training, he completed his residency in general surgery at both Atlanta Medical Center in Georgia and Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. before changing to pediatrics. He then completed his residency in pediatrics at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, followed by his fellowship in pediatric cardiology at Louisiana State University Health New Orleans.

With an outstanding commitment to his speciality, the doctor is board-certified in both pediatrics and pediatric cardiology by the American Board of Pediatrics, which is an independent and nonprofit organization that was founded in 1933. It is one of the 24 certifying boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties. 

In order to stay up to date in his field, Dr. Krulisky remains a member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Cardiology, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Medical Association.
