Educated in Iran, Dr. Shams graduated with her medical degree from Isfahan University of Medical Sciences. After relocating to the United States, she went on to perform her internship and residency in neurology at West Virginia University, and her fellowship in clinical neurophysiology at Mayo Clinic Foundation.
Subsequent to her education, the doctor attained board certification in neurology and epilepsy through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.
