Get to know Neonatologist Dr. Gregory David Sysyn, who serves patients in Atlanta, Georgia.

As a board-certified neonatologist with over three decades of experience in his field, Dr. Sysyn cares for critically ill newborns and premature infants. He is in practice with Neonatology Associates of Atlanta, P.C. in Atlanta, Georgia.

The mission of Neonatology Associates of Atlanta, P.C. is to provide the most advanced and high-quality neonatal and pediatric intensive care in a compassionate and family-focused manner. The group of board-certified neonatologists, pediatric intensivists, and pediatricians working there are dedicated to serving the needs of medically fragile newborns, children, and their families at the following locations: Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta – Scottish Rite Hospital, Northside Hospital Forsyth, Northside Hospital Atlanta, Northside Hospital Cherokee, and Northside Office MFM. 

A 1994 graduate of the Medical College of Wisconsin, Dr. Sysyn went on to complete his internship and residency in pediatrics at the same educational venue in 1995 and 1997, respectively. This was followed by a fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University in 2000.

Dedicated to clinical excellence, the doctor is board-certified in neonatal-perinatal medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics, which exists to support and encourage the best possible health care for children by setting standards for medical training, assessing levels of competence, and encouraging pediatricians to stay up to date with medical knowledge and best practices.

Neonatology is a subspecialty of pediatrics that consists of the medical care of newborn infants, especially the ill, or premature newborns. It is a hospital-based specialty and is usually practiced in neonatal intensive care units. Neonatologists generally diagnose and treat newborns with conditions such as breathing disorders, infections, and birth defects, as well as coordinating care and medically managing newborns born prematurely, critically ill, or in need of surgery.
