Get to know Family Physician Dr. Donald R. Hearn, who serves patients in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Hearn is a board-certified family physician, who practices family medicine, emergency care, and geriatrics. For over 20 years, he has been providing primary healthcare to the Channelview and Northshore areas at his practice, Northshore Medical Associates, in Houston, Texas. He believes in continuity of care and feels it is critical to the health and well-being of every patient for whom he cares. 

In the effort to earn his patients’ trust, Dr. Hearn enlists additional measures, including supplementary testing or the opinion of a specialist, to ensure a complete diagnosis. He is there every step of the way to discuss medical conditions and to create a successful plan for treatment. 

In addition to being a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the doctor is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine, a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties. 

After obtaining his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Stanford University and his Master of Science Degree from the University of Texas, he went on to earn his Medical Degree from the Texas A&M College of Medicine in Bryan, Texas in 1987. He completed his residency in family practice at Methodist Hospital and at Harvard Medical School, followed by his mini-residency in geriatrics and in business at Rice University. 

Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. A family physician is often the first person whom a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility.
