About

Dr. Kathy Baglan has been practicing Radiation Oncology in Saint Louis, MO since 2002. Radiation Oncology is a medical specialty that involves treating cancer with radiation. Radiation therapy uses carefully targeted and regulated doses of high-energy radiation to kill cancer cells. Dr. Baglan specializes in treating a wide variety of cancers, with special interest in prostate cancer, breast cancer, gynecological cancers, lung cancer, and skin cancer. Dr Baglan also has extensive experience using CyberKnife to deliver both single fraction radiosurgery (SRS) and fractionated stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT). These advanced radiation techniques significantly improve cancer cure rates and reduce risk of normal tissue injury. In addition, SRS/SBRT enhance patient convenience and quality of life by reducing time spend in the treatment center. For example, men with low-to-intermediate risk prostate cancer can be successfully treated with only 5 SBRT treatment sessions as opposed to 44 daily radiation fractions delivered over nearly 9 weeks.
