Get to know Radiation Oncologist Dr. Kathy Baglan, who serves patients in St. Louis, Missouri.

Being a seasoned radiation oncologist, Dr. Baglan specializes in the use of nuclear medicine in diagnosing and treating cancer in a patient. She tends to patients at Mercy Radiation Oncology – David C. Pratt Cancer Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

Backed by years of research and experience, the board-certified physicians at Mercy Radiation Oncology – David C. Pratt Cancer Center use the latest technology, including CyberKnife®, to design and deliver the optimal individualized treatment plan and continuously monitor patients’ conditions. They work with patients one-on-one and are dedicated to helping them overcome  disease and resume their life.

In collaboration with Mercy, Dr. Baglan is affiliated with Mercy Hospital St. Louis, Mercy Hospital Jefferson, Mercy Hospital South, and Mercy Hospital Washington.

Before embarking on her professional journey, she graduated with her medical degree from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis in 1997. She then went on to perform her residency in radiation oncology at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak in 2002.

Treating cancer with radiation, she is board-certified in radiation oncology by the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The mission of the ABR is to certify that its diplomates demonstrate the requisite knowledge, skill, and understanding of their disciplines to the benefit of patients.

A Diplomate of the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine, Dr. Baglan is a member of the American Society for Radiation Oncology, the American College of Radiology, the American Medical Association, the St. Louis Metropolitan Medical Society, the Missouri State Medical Association, and the American Brachytherapy Society. She attributes her success to her love of medicine, hard work, dedication, and empathy.

Radiation oncology is a medical specialty that involves the controlled use of radiation to treat cancer. It is one of the three primary specialties, the other two being surgical and medical oncology, involved in the treatment of cancer. A radiation oncologist is a specialist physician who uses ionizing radiation in the treatment of cancer.

Outside of practicing medicine, Dr. Baglan enjoys playing tennis, practicing Tae Kwon Do, digital scrapbooking, and photography. Her favorite place to vacation is Frankfort, Michigan. Her favorite professional publications include the Red Journal, Practical Radiation Oncology Journal, JAMA Oncology, the Journal of Clinical Oncology, The Lancet, and the New England Journal of Medicine.
