Dr. Cheryl Person is the National Director of Clinical Quality at Talkiatry, a national practice devoted to increasing access to high quality, virtual mental health care. She is board-certified in adult psychiatry and has been practicing for 20 years, 10 of them in Texas.After graduating from the Tulane University School of Medicine, she completed her psychiatry residency at Johns Hopkins and a psychiatric epidemiology fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. 

At Talkiatry, she’s responsible for the development and implementation of clinical quality initiatives throughout the company. She also leads the quality and safety division.  

She recently co-authored a peer-reviewed study on the efficacy of virtual care in patients with anxiety and depression. Her research found that after an average of 5 visits over 15 weeks, 67% of patients with anxiety no longer reported clinically significant symptoms. In patients with depression, 62% no longer reported clinically significant symptoms(Person C, et.al. Evaluating Clinical Outcomes in Patients Being Treated Exclusively via Telepsychiatry: Retrospective Data Analysis JMIR Form Res 2023;7:e53293). 

She’s excited to continue her work with patients in Texas and across the country, while working to expand access to the effective, safe, high-quality care they deserve.

Dr. Person’s impressive credentials include a Medical Degree from Tulane University School of Medicine, an internship at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital, a residency in psychiatry at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, and a fellowship in psychiatric epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She furthered her education by earning an MBA with a focus on business from the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business at West Texas A&M University.

Having previously served as the Director of Psychiatric Services at a prominent safety-net hospital in Houston, Dr. Person has a wealth of experience working with patients suffering from anxiety and mood disorders. She has also dedicated her career to helping victims of acute trauma and recently co-authored a study on the efficacy of virtual care for patients with anxiety and depression. Her research revealed promising results, showing that after an average of 5 visits over 15 weeks, 67% of patients with anxiety reported no longer experiencing clinically significant symptoms.
