Is my vitamin b12 deficiency from my change in diet?
Low B12 can be caused by not having enough in your diet. And although meats are high in B12, another great plant source is Spirulina. B12 can also be low because of a lack of absorption from foods. Causes include low stomach acid, usually seen as we age, or if a person is on a medication which lowers stomach acid. READ MORE
How can I lose tummy fat with natural medicine?
I think you mean PCOS? Typically when I approach PCOS I run labs looking at Estradiol, Total Estrogens, Progesterone, Free Testosterone, DHEA and looking at blood sugars. Depending on these findings then I have a better idea what natural agent would be best. Most PCOS patients can benefit from Berberine which has similar actions to Metformin, NAC and Myoinositol. What are the ways to treat fluid retention naturally?
This can be many different issues that you would need to be evaluated for. It could be serious causes, like heart or liver issues, to more benign causes like low thyroid, excessive estrogen, or general inflammation (many contributing causes here). READ MORE
Is there a treatment in naturopathy for a diabetic foot?
This is complicated as I find there are natural substances, however, if a full multidimensional treatment plan isn't laid out they don't work as well. Top shelf natural agents for this though include: Vitamin C, B12, Coq10, Carnitine, Alpha Lipoic Acid. It is critical to keep the area moisturized and work on improving blood flow. Again this is more complicated and you should work with a physician. READ MORE
What is a naturopathic treatment for removing gall bladder stones?
The complicated part here is it depends on the size of the stones. If the stones are larger than the bile duct on imaging then you ABSOLUTELY should never attempt to "flush the stones" as you can cause the stone to block the bile duct which is a medical emergency. You can try to help dissolve them if it is sludge or they are very small with Phosphytidylecholine, Oxbile, Apple Cidar Vinegar, Taurine, Lipotropics. Conventionally there is also a medication called ursodeoxycholic acid or chenodeoxycholic acid. READ MORE
Should I take my daughter to a naturopathic physician for her pain during her period?
Absolutely! They can explore hormone imbalances, magnesium deficiency and other possible causes including PCOS or endometriosis. READ MORE
Is there a cure in naturopathy for a cold due to allergies?
Yes it is possible. You have to explore the cause of the allergy as it may be inhalent or food related. Sometimes you can reduce or eliminate the exposure. Other times it is dependent on the person's epigenetics and how efficiently they clear histamines from the body. Finally, understand why the body is overreacting immunologically. READ MORE
Everytime I follow a naturopathy diet plan I end up with a headache. Is it normal?
It depends what the diet strategy is. Not uncommon to see people feel worse initially when they change diets as there is upregulation of necessary vitamins for detoxification and/or passage of more toxic metabolites. This is a simple answer since I don't know the exact diet you are on. READ MORE
Excessive burping with stomach pain -- what's the reason?

Natural treatment for kidney stone?
Yes! The most common cause of kidney stones is dehydration. Then we look at need for magnesium and vitamin b6 for oxalate stone prevention. Vitamin B5 and Quercetin can be used to increase clearance of uric acid causing stones. In acute kidney stone presentations, we will often give hydration intravenous infusion with magnesium to relax the ureter and flush the stones. READ MORE
I don't like taking high blood pressure medication
Hypertension has many causes and if you decide to work on getting off your medications you should always work with a physician. Some tips for lowering your blood pressure include: stress reduction, weight loss, aerobic exercise, 1/4 cup of ground flaxseeds daily, 2-3 cups Hibiscus tea daily, eating celery, increasing your plant based foods and lowering consumption of animal based foods. READ MORE
What medication can you not prescribe?
This is highly dependent on the state the ND practices in. In Washington state, for example, all medications can be prescribed except schedule drugs other than testosterone and Codeine. In Arizona, all prescriptions are allowed. This, however, doesn't limit the safe removal of medications, as most of us often have other physicians we work with if we need something prescribed that is not in our scope. READ MORE
I have lupus. How can I treat it naturally?
Yes. This is a much more complex illness, and there is NOT and never will be one natural agent to treat it. I highly recommend you work with an integrative medicine physician. A pearl though is to start introducing 2 tbsp ground flaxseeds into your diet, as this can reduce the incidence of lupus-induced kidney failure. READ MORE
