A native of Miami, Florida, she attended Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida, earning her bachelor’s degree in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Military Science. From there, she went on to obtain her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, where she graduated at the top of her class. After completing dental school, she attended an AEGD program in Memphis, Tennessee. She then worked as an Associate Dentist for over three years.
