Get to know Psychiatrist Dr. Bohdan N. Hrecznyj, who serves patients in Flagstaff, Arizona.

A devoted psychiatrist, Dr. Hrecznyj serves patients at The Guidance Center in Flagstaff, Arizona. 

The Guidance Center is a not-for-profit Community Mental Health Center with locations serving Flagstaff, Williams, and surrounding Northern Arizona communities. They provide a full range of services, which include everything from general mental health counseling for everyday stressors, to their inpatient psychiatric hospital for acute psychiatric emergencies.

Graduating cum laude with his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Oakland University in 1981, Dr. Hrecznyj earned his medical degree from the Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1985. He then went on to complete his internship and residency in psychiatry at the same educational venue in 1987, before completing a fellowship in child & adolescent psychiatry at the UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital in 1990.

As a testament of his continued education, the doctor is board-certified in psychiatry and child & adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. They conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication, and evaluate treatment results.
