With a broad educational background, Dr. Azad received his medical degree from the Allama Iqbal Medical College in India in 2004, before relocating to the United States, where he performed his residency in internal medicine at Jefferson Abington Hospital in 2016. He then went on to complete his fellowship in clinical cardiac electrophysiology at Michigan State University in 2019, followed by his fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Drexel University and the Einstein Healthcare Network in 2022.
Distinguished as a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Cardiologists are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).
Throughout his training, Dr. Azad has won numerous awards for his exceptional patient care and groundbreaking research, including the Eleanor and Dixon Best Research Award in 2015 from Jefferson Abington Hospital.
Highly valued by his patients and his peers alike, he has recently been selected as the Top Cardiologist of Philadelphia 2022.
Well equipped to communicate with patients from diverse backgrounds, Dr. Azad is proficient in multiple languages, including English, Hindi, and Urdu.
