Later, he completed his fellowship in hospice and palliative care at the University of Miami School of Medicine–Jackson Memorial Hospital.
An active member of the American Medical Association, the doctor is board-certified in family medicine and hospice & palliative medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice family medicine and its sub-specialties.
