Get to know Internist & Hospitalist Dr. Amir Torshizi, who serves patients throughout the State of Florida.

Recognized as a skilled internist and hospitalist, Dr. Torshizi specializes in the health of adults and the care of hospitalized patients. He is affiliated with Memorial Healthcare System, holding hospital privileges at: Memorial Hospital Miramar, Memorial Hospital Pembroke, Memorial Hospital West, and Memorial Regional Hospital.

The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began after he earned his medical degree from Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Iran in 1995. Upon relocating to the United States, he went on to perform his internship at Advocate Christ Medical Center in 2005, followed by his residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center in 2007.

A Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), Dr. Torshizi is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists. They manage and prevent common and complex diseases by providing comprehensive care and promoting overall well-being.

Hospital medicine is a medical specialty that exists in some countries as a branch of internal or family medicine, dealing with the care of acutely ill hospitalized patients. Physicians whose primary professional focus is caring for hospitalized patients only while they are in the hospital are called hospitalists.
