How do dentists treat pulpitis?
There are two types of pulpitis, one is reversible (and will just need time to resolve itself on its own) and the other is irreversible. For reversible pulpitis you will need to give that tooth time to heal. This would include not eating anything crunchy on that side (or chewing on the other side all together), avoiding extreme temperatures, (hot or cold), and taking anti-inflammatories such as Ibuprofen. As your body heals the sensitivity will start to slow down on it's own. Irreversible pulpitis is treated with a root canal. READ MORE

Will a tooth abscess go away with antibiotics?
Antibiotics will clear up the immediate symptoms. However, there was something that caused that abscess to develop. Without treating the original cause, the infection and abscess can return or become worse. Antibiotics are only part of the treatment, contact a dentist any time you have an abscess and get a professional recommendation for the treatment you need. Do not try to treat an abscess at home with leftover antibiotics! READ MORE
What is the difference between full upper dentures versus implants?
A denture is a removable and replaces all the teeth in your arch (either upper or lower). An implant can replace a single missing tooth, or multiple implants can replace multiple missing teeth. What happens if you get a cavity under a filling?
If you get a cavity underneath an existing filling, it can continue to grow underneath the filling. If the cavity gets too close to your nerve, you may need additional treatment such as a root canal. READ MORE

How long can a partial denture last?
Good afternoon, That's a great question! The lifespan of the partial depends on the condition of your teeth. How long does dental local anesthesia last?
There are a lot of variables with this, depending on which anesthetic was used, how much of it, where it was applied, and also other things like how quickly your body metabolizes the anesthetic! But typically, most anesthetic will wear off in about 2 hours. On some people, it lasts a lot longer, so it is not concerning if it lasts more like 6 hours! READ MORE
What are the symptoms of an infected root canal?
The signs that a tooth is infected (whether it already has a root canal or not) are swelling, pain, and the skin around that area feeling warm. You may also develop a small pocket of infection, which is visible on your gums. This may appear to look like a pimple or an abscess on the tissue near that tooth. After a teeth scaling, you will want to avoid anything with small seeds, such as raspberries, blackberries, poppy seeds, etc. It will take a few days up to a few weeks for your gums to tighten up, so in the meantime avoid anything that could get lodged in that sensitive tissue. I would also avoid eating popcorn for awhile, and if spicy foods are causing sensitivity, then avoid those until your gums are healed. READ MORE
