Get to know Cardiologist Dr. Anita Banerjee, who serves patients in Springfield and Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Dr. Banerjee is an experienced cardiology specialist at Premier Cardiac and Vascular in Springfield and Fredericksburg, Virginia. She is a female cardiologist and patient-centered physician who, instead of just prescribing medications, focuses on helping her patients make lifestyle changes to improve heart health.

Providing comprehensive cardiology care, she manages high blood pressure and cholesterol, as well as atrial fibrillation, aneurysms, and strokes. She is a patient-centered clinician and uses advanced techniques to evaluate and improve cardiovascular health.

After earning her medical degree from Odessa State Medical University in Odessa, Ukraine, Dr. Banerjee went on to complete her residency training in internal medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University in the Bronx, New York. She remained there to complete her fellowship in cardiovascular disease. She also completed a research fellowship in heart failure under the supervision of Edmund H. Sonnenblick, MD and Thierry LeJemtel, MD.

A Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Holding a Virginia state medical license, Dr. Banerjee is affiliated with Mary Washington Hospital, Virginia Hospital Center, Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center, and Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center-Richmond.

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Cardiologists are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).

To meet the needs of her diverse community, Dr. Banerjee is multilingual and speaks English, Bengali, Hindi, and Russian. She is known for being a great communicator and helping her patients achieve their health goals.
