Get to know Emergency Physician Dr. Teresa Sullivan Dolan, who serves patients in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Dolan is an emergency physician treating a wide range of acute conditions or injuries in an emergency room. 

Since June of 2020, she has been serving as an attending physician at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, providing emergency medical care in an academic healthcare system at the largest Level I trauma center, stroke center, and emergency department in Washington, D.C. She can also be found on staff at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.

A physician executive, Dr. Dolan is experienced in defining, building, and managing world class clinical operational processes underpinned by innovative clinical strategies. She drives industry leading outcomes by leveraging a collaborative approach and deep passion for patient advocacy, clinical education, patient engagement, and care navigation. She is also focused on digital health, population health management, data analytics, team leadership and development, customer satisfaction, and optimization of quality clinical outcomes.

Maintaining an academic title, she serves as an Instructor of Emergency Medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine.

Academically, Dr. Dolan graduated with her medical degree from the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in 1997. She then went on to perform her internship at Emory University Hospital in 1998, and her residency in emergency medicine at George Washington University Hospital in 2001.

Successful in her field, she is board-certified in emergency medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM). The ABEM is one of 24 medical specialty certification boards recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties. It certifies emergency physicians who meet its educational, professional, and examination standards.

Holding fellowship status, Dr. Dolan is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine.

Emergency medicine, also known as accident and emergency medicine, is the medical specialty concerned with the care of illnesses or injuries requiring immediate medical attention. An emergency physician works in an emergency department to care for acutely ill or injured patients on an unscheduled basis.
