Get to know Urologist Dr. Nabeel Syed, who serves patients in Texas.

Dr. Syed is a highly-trained, board-certified urologist with Texas Urology Specialists. He treats patients at Texas Urology Specialists-Medical City Dallas & Texas Urology Specialists-Plano.

Some of the urologic conditions that he treats include benign prostatic hyperplasia, bladder cancer, female incontinence, female sexual dysfunction, impotence, kidney cancer, kidney stones, low testosterone, male incontinence, male infertility, pelvic floor prolapse, Peyronie’s disease, prostate cancer, prostate diseases, testicular cancer, urinary tract infections, and venereal warts.

Likewise, some of the procedures that Dr. Syed performs include circumcision, erectile dysfunction treatments, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, GreenLight™, laser lithotripsy, no-scalpel vasectomy, penile prosthesis, prostate cancer screening, PSA testing, Rezum, SpaceOAR Hydrogel®, testosterone pellet implantation, TURP, urinary tract reconstruction, Urolift® system, and vasectomy.

Educated in the United States, Dr. Syed graduated with his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He then went on to perform both his residency in general surgery and his residency in urology at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center.

Subsequent to his training, the doctor attained board certification in urology through the American Board of Urology (ABU). The mission of the ABU is to act for the benefit of the public by establishing and maintaining standards of certification for urologists, and working with certified urologists to achieve lifelong learning to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe, and ethical urologic care.

The surgery locations that Dr. Syed is affiliated with include: Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Sunnyvale, Baylor Surgicare at North Dallas, Dallas Regional Medical Center, Medical City Dallas, and Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital.

His prior appointments include: Urology Clinics of North Texas, Physician, Mesquite, TX (August 1997); Healthsouth Surgery Center of Mesquite, Vice President of Medical Staff, Mesquite, TX (2003 – 2005); Medical Center of Mesquite, Chairman, Department of Surgery, Mesquite, TX (2003 – 2004); and Alliance Therapy, Director of Incontinence, Mesquite, TX (2004 – 2004).

On a professional level, Dr. Syed is an active member of the American Medical Association, the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, the American Urological Association, the Dallas County Medical Society, and the Texas Medical Association.

In addition, he has gained certifications in laser surgery and Indigo laser.

Urology, also known as genitourinary surgery, is the branch of medicine that focuses on surgical and medical diseases of the male and female urinary-tract system and the male reproductive organs. Urologists specialize in diseases of the urinary tract and the male reproductive system. Patients may be referred to a urologist if their physician suspects they may need treatment for a condition relating to the bladder, prostate, urethra, ureters, kidneys, and adrenal glands.

Among Dr. Syed’s various accolades include: Best Urology Intern Award, Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center (1994); Resident’s Debate Competition Winner, Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center (1997); and Resident’s Essay Competition Winner, Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center (1995, 1997).

Outside of practicing medicine, his hobbies include photography, computer programming, weightlifting, running, and playing guitar. He is also interested in food, travel, and other cultures.
