Get to know Neurologist Dr. Peter Novak, who serves patients in Boston, Massachusetts.

A highly trained neurologist, Dr. Novak is the Chief of the Division of Autonomic Neurology and Director of the Autonomic Laboratory at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. He has special interests in autoimmune, small fiber and autonomic neuropathies, autoimmune, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) and multiple system atrophy.

Pertaining to his educational pursuits, Dr. Novak graduated with his medical degree from the Komensky University School of Medicine in Slovakia in 1986. Upon relocating to the United States, he completed his residency in neurology at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He also completed postdoctoral studies focusing on cardiovascular and autonomic research at Charles University (Prague), University of Montreal, McGill University (Montreal) and Mayo Clinic.

An authority in his field, the doctor is board-certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

Continuously advancing his efforts, he is an active member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Autonomic Society, and the Autonomic Board of United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties.

Neurology is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nervous system. Neurologists are licensed medical specialists who diagnose and treat disorders that affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles of patients. They examine a patient’s mental and physical status, conduct medical tests and scans, and evaluate the results to diagnose and treat the patient.

Speaking several languages, Dr. Novak is fluent in English, Czech, and Slovak.
