Get to know Psychiatrist Dr. David M. Martorano, who serves patients in Casper, Wyoming.

Dr. Martorano is a second-generation psychiatrist raised near New York City. He serves as the Assistant Medical Director & Director of Adult Psychiatric Services at Wyoming Behavioral Institute in Casper, Wyoming.

He specializes in treating depression, anxiety, addiction and in helping couples with communication and intimacy issues. He is also an expert in psychopharmacology (the use of medication to treat psychiatric illness). 

What sets him apart from many other psychiatrists is his extensive training and experience in the combination of targeted psychotherapies with or without medication, and his additional training in ISTDP, CBT, DBT, IPT, in addition to intra-analytic couples and sex therapy. 

A 2000 graduate of Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, Dr. Martorano completed his residency in psychiatry at the University of California Neuropsychiatric Institute. 

With over two decades of experience, he is board-certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

Furthermore, he is certified in clinical informatics by the American Board of Preventive Medicine, which is a member of the American Board of Medical Specialties that issues “certificates of special knowledge” in the specialty of preventive medicine.

Specializing in addictions, Dr. Martorano is affiliated with the American Society of Addiction Medicine and the California Society of Addiction Medicine. 

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. They conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication, and evaluate treatment results.
