Dr. Smith, a board certified general and bariatric surgeon, has been providing expert care since 2006. Located in Georgetown, Kentucky, he practices at the renowned Kentucky Bariatric Institute, offering specialized surgical solutions to his patients.

A distinguished expert in the field of robotic surgery, Dr. Smith boasts a wealth of experience and qualifications. Notably, he has performed more robotic sleeve gastrectomy surgeries than any other practitioner in Central Kentucky, showcasing a remarkable level of skill and proficiency. 

As a recognized Surgeon of Excellence in Robotic Surgery and Master Surgeon in Robotic Surgery, Dr. Smith is known for his compassionate and dedicated approach to patient care, having successfully completed thousands of bariatric surgeries with a commitment to excellence. He also serves as a national proctor, speaker, and educator for Intuitive Surgical, specializing in robotic bariatric surgery. 

An Ashland, Kentucky native, Dr. Smith graduated Cum Laude from Marshall University. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2001, after which he performed his residency in surgery with Kettering Health Network from 2001 to 2006. 

Board certified in bariatric and robotic surgery, Dr. Smith is recognized as a Diplomate of the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery (AOBS). The AOBS is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the use of surgery to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Holding fellowship status, Dr. Smith is a Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (FASMBS).

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and other body systems. A general surgeon performs a wide range of surgeries for many forms of intestinal and abdominal wall neoplasms, gallbladder disease, gastric and biliary disease.
