Get to know Psychiatrist Dr. Karl J. Schroeder, who serves patients in Suffern, New York.

Dr. Schroeder is a seasoned psychiatrist with over five decades of experience. He sees patients at his private practice in Suffern, New York, providing both psychotherapeutic and psychopharmacologic treatment.

Back in the early days of his academic career, he graduated with his medical degree from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. He then went on to perform his residency in psychiatry at New York State Psychiatric Institute.

Subsequent to his education, Dr. Schroeder attained board certification through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. They conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication, and evaluate treatment results.
