Get to know Oncologist Dr. Benjamin Cho, who serves patients in Eugene, Oregon.

Practicing oncology with insight and vision, Dr. Cho is affiliated with the Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and Research Center in Eugene, Oregon. He is known to have a positive attitude that pairs nicely with an analytical and open-minded approach, and is a patient advocate.

With a broad educational background, he earned his medical degree from the Rush Medical College in 2001, and completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2004. Later, he completed his fellowship in medical oncology at the Oregon Health & Science University in 2008.

Passionate about his profession, Dr. Cho is board-certified in medical oncology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Among his other roles, he serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Oregon Health & Science University Medical School, and was the former President of both the Oregon Society of Medical Oncology and the Willamette Valley Cancer Institute.

Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A medical professional who practices oncology is an oncologist. An oncologist is a doctor who treats cancer and provides medical care for a person diagnosed with cancer. They lead a cancer treatment team of various healthcare professionals, treat patients with radiation therapy, coordinate treatment plans and prescribe various types of treatment, including chemotherapy and immunotherapy, as well as assist patients with pain management.

As a testament to his success, Dr. Cho earned an Angel Award for exceptional care from the Sacred Heart Medical Center in 2012, and was a Wings of Hope Nominee at the Oregon Cancer Foundation in 2018.
