CHI St. Alexius Health Dickinson Medical Center is a 25-bed, Critical Access Hospital with a Level IV Trauma Center accredited by the American College of Surgeons and JCAHO. They serve patients from southwestern North Dakota, eastern Montana, and northern South Dakota.
CHI St. Alexius Health Bismarck Emergency & Trauma Center provides expert emergency care for when the unexpected happens. The Emergency & Trauma Center continues to be staffed by board-certified physicians and advanced practice clinicians all of whom have either Level I or Level II trauma experience. In 1993, it became the first Level II Trauma Center in the region verified by the American College of Surgeons.
Before embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Kitagawa graduated with his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency in family practice at St. Joseph’s Hospital, and his residency in emergency medicine at the Denver Health Center.
In pursuit of clinical excellence, the doctor is board-certified in emergency medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine (AOBEM). The AOBEM is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of acutely ill patients with advanced cardiac life support, trauma, and the management of other life-threatening medical issues (emergency physicians).
Achieving fellowship status, Dr. Kitagawa is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (FACEP), and Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians (FAAFP).
