Dr. Bulbul is the Medical Director of Hematology and Oncology at Kymera Independent Physicians, located in Roswell, New Mexico. Kymera Independent Physicians is a multispecialty medical group consisting of four clinics and a staff of over 150 serving Southeastern New Mexico. Their mission is to provide accessible, innovative, superior quality health care to the residents of Roswell, Carlsbad, Hobbs, and the surrounding communities of Southeastern New Mexico.
Dr. Bulbul is the sole provider for two hematology and oncology clinics in Southeastern New Mexico. He also provides services at a third clinic, which is part of the multidisciplinary group practice. In addition, Dr. Bulbul serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Oncology at Texas Tech University.
Dr. Bulbul obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from the University of Jammu. He then went on to earn his medical degree, with a focus on hematology and medical oncology, from the University of Southern California.
Dr. Bulbul is triple board-certified in internal medicine, medical oncology, and hematology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Dr. Bulbul is a member of the American Society of Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, the European Society of Medical Oncology, the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, the New Mexico Medical Board, the New Mexico Society of Clinical Oncology, and the California Medical Association. He is the Associate Editor of the Oxford Case Report and peer reviews on many high impact journals.
Dr. Bulbul has authored over 50 publications, as well as has written multiple authoritative papers on treating patients with lung and breast cancer. His research on desmoplastic sarcomas has identified androgen receptors on the tumor that we may be able to target to improve response in that tumor.
Dr. Bulbul has presented at multiple cancer conferences across the world, including ASCO and ESMO. He also writes a cancer column blog, Cancer Roundup, where he advises on treatment strategies and answers patient questions.
Hematology, is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of the cause, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood. Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A hematologist-oncologist, like Dr. Bulbul, is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and/or prevention of blood diseases and cancers such as iron-deficiency anemia, hemophilia, sickle-cell disease, leukemia, and lymphoma.
In his spare time, Dr. Bulbul enjoys hiking, trail running, listening to music, traveling, and playing cricket. He has qualified for multiple Mountain Trail Ultra Running competitions around the world, running up to 50 miles in the mountains.
