Dr. Farrow has over three decades of federal and academic experience as an internist, endocrinologist, and geriatrician. 

Currently, he is the Executive Director of the National Diabetes & Obesity Research Institute in Biloxi, Mississippi. He is also a staff endocrinologist (volunteer) with Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System.

His expertise includes diabetes and weight management clinical consultation, research (basic, clinical and industrial clinical), health institution performance consultation, health professionals education, and community health education. 

A Wayne Health affiliate, Dr. Farrow serves as a Clinical Professor of Medicine and Endocrinology at the Wayne State University School of Medicine. 

His hospital affiliations include Children’s Hospital of Michigan, Detroit Receiving Hospital, Harper Hospital, Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital, Hutzel Women’s Hospital, Karmanos Cancer Center, Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan, and Sinai-Grace Hospital.

Back in the early days of his academic career, Dr. Farrow graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Wayne State University in 1981. He then went on to earn his medical degree from the Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1985.

Furthering his training, he performed his internship in internal medicine at the University of Michigan in 1986, his residency in internal medicine at the Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1988, his fellowship in endocrinology and metabolism at the Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1990.

Years later, in 2014, Dr. Farrow earned his Master of Business Administration degree from Americas/Global (Vanderbilt-Owen (United States); Simon Fraser-Beedie (California); Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (Mexico); Universidade de São Paulo-Fundação Instituto de Administração (Brazil)) (Team Winner, International Corporate-Executive Entrepreneur Team Competition).

His research and quality improvement experience includes human performance research with the Navy’s Fighter Weapons School and Special Warfare divisions, basic and clinical civilian studies in hypertension and diabetes, and funded work on clinical decision support and enhanced facility-clinician-patient communication. 

Dedicated to clinical excellence, Dr. Farrow is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Among his community/volunteer service and collaboration, Dr. Farrow has been involved in the Walk for the Poor (fundraiser since 2017) of St. Vincent de Paul (Our Lady of Fatima).
