How can I remove tartar from my teeth without going to the dentist?
Not unless you buy specialized dental equipment and tools, and even then it would be like cutting your own hair on the back of your head. Thus, please see a dentist READ MORE
Can you replace a crown with a veneer?
No READ MORE
Do dental bridges damage teeth?
Bridges are great to replace a missing tooth, but the dentist has to cut down each tooth next to the missing tooth in order to place the bridge. I would do a dental implant if possible, because it will act as a stand alone tooth replacement. READ MORE
How do you get dentures to stay in place?
This depends on the bone the dentures sit on. If there is not much bone, the denture will not stay in place. Also, Dentures need to be refitted every 3-5 years. READ MORE
What can you do for a swollen tongue?
Go to the ER READ MORE
Why does a cracked tooth have to be pulled?
Simply stated, if the crack in the tooth extend down onto the root of the tooth (below the gumline and bone) the tooth has a very poor/hopeless outcome. With modern day dental technology and techniques, the best choice is to remove the tooth. READ MORE
How can flossing help in maintaining the health of teeth and gums?
100%. The floss removes food and bacteria from in between the teeth. This allows the gums to be clean and healthy READ MORE
Is chewing gum often bad for your teeth?
No. Sugar free gum please READ MORE
Is water-flossing as effective as regular flossing?
Water picks are great! Floss is great as well. Anything that mechanically removes the debris and bacteria from the teeth and gums is OK in my book! Hope this helps READ MORE
How often will I have to replace my braces?
Hi! Depending on type of braces, metal fixed vs invisalign, both types need top be evaluated and adjusted by a dentist or orthodontist frequently. As the teeth move, the dentist will make adjustments to the wire in order to continue the movement of the teeth to the desired location. If changes and adjustments are not performed, the teeth will remain where they currently are, and further movement will not happen. Hope this helps! READ MORE
I am a diabetic and my gums have been bleeding. Is there something to be concerned about?
Yes! If diabetes is uncontrolled, it can show in the mouth (bleeding, sores, lack of healing). I recommend talking to your MD and Dentist. Diabetics really should have 3 cleanings per year, as the whole body risks are more prevalent. READ MORE
