Originally from Armenia, Dr. Hovanesian graduated with his medical degree from Yerevan State Medical University in 1982. He then went on to perform his residency in ophthalmology at The University of Chicago Hospitals, and his retina fellowship at The University of Tennessee.
The doctor’s professional background includes: Assistant Professor within the Department of Ophthalmology at Yerevan State Medical Institute (10/1988-7/1990), Physician Assistant at Eye Physicians and Surgeons Office in Los Angeles, California (2/1991-6/1993), Research Fellow at the USC/Doheny Eye Institute (7/1993-6/1994), and Research Associate at the Visual Sciences Center at The University of Chicago (7/1994-6/1995).
