Get to know Psychologist Dr. April R. Wiechmann, who serves patients in Fort Worth, Texas. 

Psychologist Dr. Wiechmann is currently serving Fort Worth and the surrounding communities. She is affiliated with UNT Health Science Center – one of the nation’s premier graduate academic medical centers, with six schools that specialize in patient-centered education, research and health care.

Dr. Wiechmann earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Health Psychology and Behavioral Medicine at the University of North Texas. She went on to complete an internship at the Central Texas Veterans Administration. 

In order to stay up to date in her field, Dr. Wiechmann maintains professional memberships with the American Psychological Association, the National Academy of Neuropsychology, the Alzheimer’s Association, and the Fort Worth Area Psychological Association. The National Academy of Neuropsychology is a non-profit professional membership association for experts in the assessment and treatment of brain injuries and disorders. 

Psychology is the scientific study of the human mind and its functions, especially those affecting behavior in a given context. As a psychologist, Dr. Wiechmann evaluates and treats patients through a variety of methods, most typically being psychotherapy or talk therapy. Patients usually visit Dr. Wiechmann because they have been experiencing depression, anxiety, stress or anger for a significant period of time and are seeking help. 

During her time in the field, Dr. Wiechmann has treated countless patients. She is the reward recipient of a federal grant through the National Institutes of Health.
