Get to know Interventional Radiologist Dr. Nikhil C. Patel, who serves patients in California.

Dr. Patel is a highly-trained interventional radiologist at Chino Vascular & Surgery Center in California.

Serving the local community, he is one of the very few highly skilled physicians in the area to go down to the toes to treat very complex cases to prevent amputation. His caring nature and ways to connect with everyone makes him very popular among his patients.

Chino Vascular and Surgery Center is a state-of-the-art center that offers some of the most advanced minimally invasive and noninvasive diagnostic and treatment procedures for the management of a wide range of vascular diseases and other medical conditions. The physicians strive to ensure patients receive the best possible care in a comfortable and compassionate environment.

Educated in India, Dr. Patel graduated with his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from M S Ramaiah Medical College in 1992. He then relocated to the United States, performing his residencies at Ascension Genesys Hospital and at the University of South Alabama.

Trained at University of Rochester in New York, Dr. Patel stayed back as faculty and within two years, became one of the youngest in the country to be named the “chief of Interventional radiology”. He was instrumental in starting a Liver and Biliary Intervention Program in affiliation with the liver transplant team.

During his tenure at the University, he published many research papers and authored a textbook titled “Interventional Radiology Secrets”.

After leaving New York to move close to the west coast, Dr. Patel joined an outpatient private practice group in Phoenix, Arizona, specializing exclusively in performing Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) work for three years. He performed over 3000 PAD procedures and pioneered new techniques to refine the treatment. He was also involved in training many physicians who are now practicing PAD work all over the country.

Finally coming home to California, where he grew up, Dr. Patel joined Chino Vascular & Surgery Center, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience in PAD work.

Board-certified in diagnostic radiology and interventional radiology, he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The ABR is a not-for-profit organization and is a member of the American Board of Medical Specialties.

Providing free vascular care to the underserved population, Dr. Patel is a co-founder of “NANA Trust” in India.

Interventional radiology is a medical specialization that involves performing a range of imaging procedures to obtain images of the inside of the body. Vascular & interventional radiologists focus on diseases of the blood vessels and lymphatic system, but also treat other conditions such as cancer and infertility. They perform minimally invasive treatments that have less risk, pain, and recovery time compared to open surgery.

While in New York, Dr. Patel was named “New York top docs”’ for three consecutive years.
