Why does my tooth hurt after a crown?
This is a normal risk of doing treatment. It all depends on the size of the cavity/fracture that required the crown and how deep your doctor had to drill. Whenever a tooth is drilled on the nerve is inflamed. The closer to the nerve it is the more inflamed it gets which can lead to pain. Give it a week or two and if it is not better a root canal may be needed. READ MORE
How long after a filling can I eat and drink?
This depends on the type of filling done. If you get a white filling you can eat and drink immediately. If you get a silver filling it is recommended you wait one hour. Remember, in either case you are still numb so you want to avoid hot things and chewing on your cheek and/or tongue. READ MORE
Professional tooth whitening better than OTC whitening strips?
Professional tooth whitening uses prescription grade whitening levels which allows for greater changes in tooth color over a shorter period of time. It will take several additional OTC treatments to reach the same level of whitening that in office whitening will achieve. READ MORE
How often should fillings be replaced?
The typical filling in the United States has a life span of 5 years. However, some filling can last between 20-30 years. With regular cleanings and exams it will be noted if there are any issues that would require replacement and treatment will be discussed with your dentist at that time. READ MORE

I would return to the treating doctor and discuss this. This could be due to a loss of bond in which case the filling may need to be retreated. The filling should not be loose. READ MORE

These teeth can be saved through root canal retreatment, something called and apicoectomy, or alternative treatment options. This depends on the severity of the infection and amount of viable remaining tooth structure remaining. READ MORE
Can an x-ray show if you need a root canal?

How long does it take for dental implants to heal?

Can you sleep with dentures?
This is ok to do every once in a while but you do not want to make a habit out of it. Sleeping with dentures in can lead to fungal infections that requires additional treatment and removing the dentures at night is the best way to avoid this. READ MORE
Is an implant the best way to replace a missing tooth?
An implant is the gold standard for replacing a missing tooth. You can use a bridge which causes damage to surrounding teeth and is difficult to take care of. Is it normal for a tooth to hurt after a filling?
This is a risk of dental treatment. The drill heats up and vibrates the tooth which can cause a condition called pulpitis. This can last from several days to several months. As long as it is trending on getting better everything is ok here. READ MORE

Does lidocaine make you sleepy?
Lidocaine usually does not make you sleepy. Often times it is combined with epinephrine which will have the opposite effect. In short, you will not need a ride home following use of lidocaine unless you have an adverse effect to it. READ MORE
Is scaling of teeth painful?
The procedure itself is not painful. The patient will be numbed up for the procedure. However, your friend may experience some soreness while healing following the treatment anywhere from 3-5 days. READ MORE
If part of my braces fall off, is it an emergency?
Although I do not consider this an emergency I would recommend visiting your orthodontist as soon as possible for repair. The longer you wait the more tho haha will shift in an adverse way which may increase the length of required treatment time. READ MORE
Can I say no to saying antibiotics after tooth extraction?
They are not required, however, they are highly recommended in some situations. In these situations they can aid in prevention of dry socket. Also, if an infection gets into your blood stream this can lead to sepsis and death. Although rare, it is best to take antibiotics to avoid this painful and risky side effects. READ MORE
Can I have my wisdom teeth removed without having an oral surgery consultation?
