He attended Wayne State University School of Medicine, culminating in 13 years of education and residency, during which he achieved dual board certification in general surgery and thoracic surgery.
Dr. Fietsam’s medical career began as an assistant consulting professor of Surgery at Duke University, where he practiced cardiothoracic and vascular surgery. His dedication to patient care and medical excellence has earned him numerous accolades, including the prestigious Charles C. Guthrie Award from the Vascular Surgical Society and the Charles Johnston Award from the Detroit Surgical Association. In 2011, he was honored with induction into the Maquet Cardiovascular Beating Hall of Fame, a testament to his contributions to the field.
