Get to know Emergency Medicine Physician, Dr. Robert A. Shapiro, who serves patients in Whittier, California

A remarkably experienced emergency medicine physician, Dr. Shapiro is an attending physician at Whittier Hospital Medical Center in Whittier, California. He additionally maintains hospital privileges at Chapman Global Medical Center, and Menifee Valley Medical Center. Dr. Shapiro is currently licensed to practice medicine in California and Pennsylvania. 

Upon completing his medical degree in 1967 at David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, Dr. Shapiro joined the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System for his transitional internship year (1967-1968). Drawing on his passion for excellence, he performed a residency in psychiatry at the University of Southern California – LAC+USC Medical Center (1968 – 1969).

Subsequent to her training, Dr. Shapiro became board certified in emergency medicine with the American Board of Emergency Medicine. ABEM is one of 24 medical specialty certification boards recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties. ABEM certifies emergency physicians who meet its educational, professional, and examination standards. 

Emergency medicine is the medical speciality concerned with the care of illnesses or injuries requiring immediate medical attention. Emergency physicians continuously learn to care for unscheduled and undifferentiated patients of all ages.
