What eye conditions are treated with lasers?
Lasers can be used for a wide variety of treatments in the eye. A laser can be used to change the shape of the cornea, create a therapeutic channel or hole in the iris, widen the eye's drainage structures (trabecular meshwork) to lower eye pressure, remove scar tissue from the back surface of a lens implant in the eye, prevent a hole or tear in the retina from extending, and to control diabetic retinopathy in the back of the eye. If you have any questions regarding your particular diagnosis and treatment options, certainly check in with your local Ophthalmologist, you ask an excellent question. READ MORE

Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery, which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Ophthalmologists are experts in the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye. They may provide routine care such as vision testing, as well as prescribe and fit eyeglasses or contact lenses. However, ophthalmologists are also surgeons. They repair traumatic injuries to the eye and perform cataract, glaucoma, and corneal surgery.
Outside of practicing medicine, Dr. Wandel enjoys spending time with her husband, a primary medicine doctor, her two small children, and her two older stepchildren. She loves biking, reading, and amateur rowing at a local rowing club.
