Established in 1989, Diabetes & Endocrine Center has been providing comprehensive specialty care in Waco and the surrounding communities for over 25 years. The clinic provides exceptional, patient-focused diabetes and endocrine care in an atmosphere of kindness and compassion. In regards to her educational background, Dr. Amar earned her Medical Degree from Osmania Medical College in Andhra Pradesh, India. Upon relocating to the United States, she went on to complete her internship in internal medicine at Beekman Downtown Hospital in New York, followed by her residencies in internal medicine at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center and at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai. Furthering her education, she completed her fellowship training in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism at VA Medical Center.
Thereafter, she became board-certified in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. Furthermore, she attained Fellowship status with the American College of Endocrinology.
Endocrinology is a branch of biology and medicine dealing with the endocrine system, its diseases, and its specific secretions known as hormones. Endocrinologists have the training to diagnose and treat hormone imbalances and problems by helping to restore the normal balance of hormones in the body. The common diseases and disorders of the endocrine system that endocrinologists deal with include diabetes mellitus, as well as adrenal, pituitary, and thyroid disorders, among others.
