Upon relocating to the United States, he went on to complete his residency in psychiatry at the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine in Vermillion, South Dakota. He also completed his fellowship in liaison psychiatry at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts in 2001.
Dr. Patel is board-certified in psychiatry, psychosomatic medicine, and sleep medicine by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists.
