She then went on to earn her medical degree from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in 1993, after which she performed her residency at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore in 1997.
“I spent my college years reading the texts of Plato, Kant and other political thinkers and took my pre-med courses as electives. I majored in Political Science because I knew I would be practicing medicine for the rest of my professional life and I wanted to learn about other disciplines. I really didn’t think about how the study of political philosophy might affect my practice of medicine, but I use my critical thinking skills every day while taking care of patients” as stated by Dr. Louie.
A Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, she is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.
Licensed to practice medicine in Minnesota, Dr. Louie is affiliated with Fairview Southdale Hospital, Abbott Northwestern Hospital, and Edina Specialty Surgery Center.
Obstetrics and Gynecology is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties. An obstetrician-gynecologist, or OB-GYN, is a healthcare professional who specializes in female reproductive health.
In honor of her clinical expertise, Dr. Louie is the recipient of Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2016, 2017), Patients’ Choice Award (2017), and On-Time Doctor Award (2017).
On a more personal note, her passions are her family, their 1924 Prairie style home, and HGTV. Her hobby is renovating her old house with period door knobs, light fixtures, and custom trim. Her attention to detail carries over from her practice of medicine to her remodeling.
