About

Jonathan Kost, MD, is a highly respected interventional pain medicine specialist who brings compassion and expertise to his practice in Meriden and West Hartford, CT. As the founder and medical director of both the Spine and Pain Institute at Midstate and the Hartford Hospital Pain Treatment Center, Dr. Kost has dedicated his career to improving the lives of those suffering from pain. With over 30 years of experience in interventional pain management, he is board-certified in both Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. He completed his interventional pain medicine fellowship at Harvard's Brigham and Women's Hospital and his anesthesiology residency at Beth Israel/Mount Sinai Hospitals in New York City.

A true pioneer in his field, Dr. Kost established Connecticut's only multidisciplinary pain treatment center and the first EDS Society - Center of Excellence for Pain Management in New England. His influence reaches beyond clinical practice; he actively contributes to the state medical advisory boards for Connecticut's Workers Compensation Commission and Department of Consumer Protection. Additionally, he is an associate clinical professor at the UConn School of Medicine and the Frank H. Netter School of Medicine. His leadership roles include co-chairing Hartford HealthCare's neuroscience division for Opioid and Pain Councils and co-founding the Connecticut Pain Society, where he served as past president.

Beyond his clinical and academic endeavors, Dr. Kost is the visionary founder of Digital 360 Health, a medical software company that enhances patient-provider communication and transforms patient data collection to improve healthcare outcomes. His driving passion is to make a meaningful difference in healthcare.

Dr. Kost is particularly committed to diagnosing and treating Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS), one of the most under-diagnosed and under-treated conditions in medicine. When he lectures on hEDS, he often shares with his audience, “It is highly likely that you know someone who has this unfortunate condition, of which has not been diagnosed.” He is dedicated to researching hEDS and advocating for greater awareness among patients and practitioners alike. His comprehensive approach addresses the unique challenges faced by individuals affected by this condition, ensuring they receive the compassionate care and support they truly need.
